Foodbanks are an essential service and will remain open during lockdown

2nd November 2020

Foodbanks are classed as an essential service and will continue to operate after the New National Restrictions on 5 November 2020 come into force. Please spread the word as we do not want people to unnecessarily worry.

All our six weekly foodbanks will be open during their usual day, time and location. We will announce any temporary closures on our Website and Social Media; so please refer to them https://stalbansdistrict.foodbank.org.uk/locations.
To use our services you do need to be referred and it is easier than ever to speak to someone about a food bank referral
Call our local helpline 01727 811 118 to speak to St Albans Citizens Advice who will be able to issue you with a food bank voucher if necessary.
Or alternatively
Call our free national helpline.

If you are in financial crisis and live in England or Wales, please call 0808 2082138 for free (open Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) to talk confidentially with a trained Citizens Advice adviser. They can help address your crises and provide support to maximise your income, help you navigate the benefits system, and identify any additional grants you could be entitled to. If needed, they’ll issue you with a voucher so you can get an emergency food parcel from your local food bank.

If this isn’t possible then please contact the foodbank via Facebook, email [email protected] or call 01727 613019 option 1
or come along to one of our foodbank sessions; where our fully trained team will assist you. Please note that due to the way we need to currently operate we can offer very little privacy at our foodbank sessions, so it is best to obtain your referral before attending.
Foodbank sessions may be very busy and we understand it is frustrating but please be kind and courteous to our volunteers who are doing the best they can.
